This is a TanvasTouch for Automotive center console TanvasTouch is a capacitive multi-touch surface haptic technology that allows you to feel textures and effects on screen.
The glass itself is totally smooth, but as you slide, it feels as if you’re encountering physical objects on the surface of the glass.
You can feel a texture on this home button, and this allows you to find it through touch or with a short glance. On this navigation bar, you feel tactile edges between each menu item.
This user interface has been designed from scratch to allow the driver to locate and control the functions of their vehicle as quickly, as efficiently, and with as little visual attention as possible.
When you slide up, you open a new menu layer, and you feel it snap solidly in place. When you slide anywhere on the large target area, you feel the springy swipe to change the track.
Notice how the finger skips across the screen on the volume slider. TanvasTouch uses electroadhesive surface haptics to create these effects by creating friction changes between the finger and the glass. This technology is completely solid-state. There is no vibration motor and the display is not vibrating.
The detailed haptic feedback is customized for each control in software. As you adjust the temperature, you feel an individual tick matching each change of the degree.
You can navigate and operate all of the controls with your finger solidly on screen and your eyes on the road, reducing the risk of driver distraction.
For the automaker, TanvasTouch for Automotive combines the look of a beautiful, clean high-resolution touch display, with a feel that can be customized to match the vehicle’s interior. The 15” touchscreen module shown here was produced in partnership with a leading automotive supplier.
